FREE
In May 2010, after going on a CME(Community Music East) course, with the help of Paul and Joe we wrote and recorded our first song, Free. Also at the course was a second drummer called Dom Trevor, but because he went to a different school it was hard to keep in contact with him, so we couldn't keep him in the band after the CME course. Back at school, in September-October 2010, we recorded the song 'Free' with the new line-up.
FLOOD OF TEARS
In June 2010 Fred and Gabriel wrote some guitar and bass music, and showed it to Leo, who immediately came up with some great lyrics. After Jan made himself a drum part, we decided to call the song 'Flood of Tears', named after a line in the first verse. We performed it at Livewire 2010, the Year 7 end of year assembly, Chapelfield Mall, Hewett's school fete and Christmas Livewire '10.
PLUCK A STAR
Once again, Fred and Gabriel got together and wrote some guitar and bass music, and Leo had recently written some lyrics which fitted perfectly. We all played it together with Jan getting a great sounding drum part together, and our third song "Pluck a Star" was created.
BOTTLED UP
The riff came about whilst the band were jamming, and soon the musical base of the song was written. Leo quickly came up with lyrics and the song was written in hardly any time at all.
LOOK AGAIN
Guitarist Fred wrote the music and lyrics for the song, before showing the others who played it brilliantly. On this song Gabs plays guitar instead of Bass. The song is slightly in the style of funk rock. The Solution are yet to play this song to an audience.
THE TRAVELLER
Written in early June 2011, this is the band's favourite song, and was structured around a bassline. It was performed first at Lionwood Junior school fete and was also played at The Hewett's "Livewire 2011".
ATTACKED BY FEEDBACK
Written over a succession of practices, but finished at a session at Earth Studios in Norwich. The name was given because of the amount of feedback when playing the song. It features a taster of some of Jan's drum skills:)
